ACCESSIBILITY AND INCLUSIVITY

VISION

St. Louis CITY SC endeavors to be the most inclusive and accessible Club in the MLS and all of sports. For CITY SC, EVERY fan is valued and is a priority.

PURPOSE

The matchday experience should be accessible and experienced by EVERYONE, regardless of a disability. A fan with a disability should be able to attend any match, at any time, and have a positive and enjoyable experience. In the 2018 State Report for County Level Data Prevalence), the county with the greatest number of people with disabilities was St. Louis (117,960 people), and according to a 2020 CDC report, ~45.5% (combined) of the population in Missouri have a cognitive, hearing, vision, mobility, or independent living disability.

SERVICES

The following services will be available at all home matches:

  • Closed Captioning for Deaf and Hearing Impaired

    • Provided by VITAC

    • Visible on the Northeast and Northwest boards

  • ASL Interpretation for Deaf and Hearing Impaired

    • Provided by DEAF, Inc.

  • Audio Description for the Blind/Visually Impaired

    • Provided by MindsEye

    • Audio description equipment will be available at CITYPARK

  • Sensory Room presented by St. Louis Children's Hospital

    • In partnerhsip with Kulture City

    • In addition to the availability of the Sensory Room, Sensory Bags will be available. The bags can be loaned out for use by fans on matchdays.

  • Hidden Disabilities - Sunflower

    • The Sunflower is for people with non-visible disabilities. Without a visual cue, it can be difficult for others to identify, acknowledge, or understand the daily barriers faced by people living with an invisible disability. It is a discreet sign which is still clearly visible from a distance as well as being distinctive, joyful, and dynamic. A sunflower was chosen because it suggests happiness, positivity, strength as well as growth and confidence and is universally known.

    • Allows staff to know who may require special assistance or may need another method of interaction and understanding/compassion

    • A guest can go to Guest Services and request an item that has the sunflower icon:
